Associate Director, Virginia Tech Career Services

Amy McPherson serves as the Associate Director for Student Services in Career Services. In her role she is responsible for providing information, direction and support for the coordination of Career Services’ programs and services for all students at Virginia Tech. Additionally, she advises students on general career decision making and job search related issues. She serves as the Career Services liaison to the Virginia Tech Graduate School and co-liaison to the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences. She has designed and taught workshops on career decision making, conducting a successful job search, succeeding in a new job, and business/dining etiquette. Amy is also a certified interpreter for the Myers Briggs Personality Type Indicator and has facilitated workshops for students, faculty and staff on the topic. She received a bachelor of arts in Business and Economics and a master of education in Counselor Education, both from North Carolina State University. Amy is active in the VT Division of Student Affairs and with professional associations currently serving on the Task Force for a Healthier VT and as the Director of Professional Development for the Eastern Association of Colleges and Employers.
