Speaker 2013; Ph.D. Candidate, Mechanical Engineering Post Doctoral Research Associate, Oak Ridge National Labs

Amy Elliott is a PhD Candidate of Mechanical Engineering studying 3D printing at Virginia Tech. She obtained her bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Technological University in 2009 with a minor in mathematics. Starting in high school and continuing through college, Amy participated in 8 semesters of internships and coops with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center and Marshall Space Flight Center. In the DREAMS Lab at Virginia Tech, which stands for Design, Research, and Education for Additive Manufacturing, Amy lead the design and fabrication of the DreamVendor – the world's first 3D printing vending machine. Her PhD research deals with creating physical unclonable security features for 3D printed objects. Amy was a finalist on the first season of The Discovery Channel show The Big Brain Theory: Pure Genius, which aired May through June of 2013.
